CFO Search has been retained by a prominent school district located in a desirable suburb just south of Seattle, Washington.  Our client has an immediate opening for an experienced Chief Financial Officer.  This is a strategic finance role that will work hand in hand with the Superintendent on improving financial and operational efficiencies. School District:

  • Consists of 2875 Students, 400 Employees and 5 Schools
  • Conveniently located 10 minutes from SeaTac in a growing and prosperous area
  • Excellent Work/Life Balance and Comprehensive Benefits Package w/ 40 days of PTO (28 vacation + 12 sick days)

Position:

  • Compensation is $145,000 to $185,000 with exceptional benefits
  • Reports to Superintendent and serves as principal advisor to the Board of Directors, Superintendent and Cabinet
  • Superintendent has an Open Door Policy and is an excellent mentor
  • Directs and oversees the activities of Finance and Accounting, Procurement, A/P & A/R, Risk Management, Budget and Financial Planning, Grant Development, Payroll, Treasury and Cash Management and Financial Reporting

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as principal advisor to the Board of Directors, Superintendent and Cabinet in matters related to Financial Activities, Compliance, Efficiencies, Investments and Strategies
  • Directs and oversees the activities of Finance and Accounting, Procurement, A/P & A/R, Risk Management, Budget and Financial Planning, Grant Development, Payroll, Treasury and Cash Management and Financial Reporting
  • Oversee the preparation and development of a 10-year capital funding program incorporating corrective measures as needed to address deferred maintenance needs
  • Build complex financial models and forecast trends and determine their impact on school district

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive Finance/Accounting experience including 5 years Management, Experience in Public Sector or School District preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, cash management, investment strategies, public debt financing, budgeting, advanced accounting theory, and applicable federal and state rules and regulations
  • Experience managing employees and budgets
